Unseen Worlds
Discover the Hidden World Around You
Unseen Worlds invites children to explore the unseen life beneath their feet. Through hands-on science, creative art, and sustainable making, young people transform curiosity into beautiful, interactive installations—learning, experimenting, and connecting with nature in ways that are accessible, inclusive, and inspiring.

Overview
Unseen Worlds is our newest community project, inviting children to look closer at the world around them—especially the parts we can’t normally see. Created for young people who are unable to attend their school’s residential camp, the project offers an inclusive and enriching alternative where science, art, and nature meet. It’s a chance to step outside, slow down, and connect with the hidden life beneath our feet.
At Immortal Bloom CIC, we believe every child deserves access to meaningful creative learning, no matter their background, ability, or circumstance. Unseen Worlds specifically supports young people who may miss out on school trips, including those who are neurodivergent and/or disabled. By transforming observation into imagination, and imagination into making, we aim to nurture confidence, curiosity, and connection.
Students begin with hands-on exploration, using pocket microscopes to investigate tiny ecosystems in soil, moss, and water. Back in the classroom, they learn digital manipulation techniques to transform these observations into sculpture, photography, and Textiles.
The Context
e-waste (electronic waste) is a growing concern, not only because the number of electronic devices is set to grow exponentially, but also due to miniaturisation and integration, devices are becoming harder to repair. In addition, although newer devices are smaller and consume less energy, they require more energy to manufacture
What can we do?
By making our electronics last as long as possible, keeping them in use and repairing them when we can; we can reduce our impact. As with Fast Fashion, the desire to always have the latest thing leads to a lot of resource use and e-waste, as well as the demand for cheap devices with short lifespans
Our approach
At Immortal Bloom, we design our electronics to be reusable and repurposable. We aim to use removable connectors instead of soldering (which creates dispersed metal waste) and use reusable and repurposable “maker” controllers, and fix things which break
